Which autoclave is better for canning — vertical or horizontal?
Vertical autoclaves (100–1200 L) suit small and medium workshops: smaller footprint, lower cost, top-loading baskets. Horizontal models (from 1000 L) are the choice for large canning facilities: trolley loading, high throughput, product rotation capability. Our engineers will calculate capacity and select the optimal configuration for your workshop free of charge.
How much does an industrial autoclave cost and what drives the price?
Price depends on volume, material (stainless steel AISI 304 or 316), heating type, automation level and the presence of counter-pressure or vacuum. Vertical electric autoclaves start from $5,000, horizontal industrial systems from $24,000, and turnkey autoclave lines from $89,000. Leasing is available.
What autoclave is needed for industrial meat stew production?
Stew production requires sterilisation at 115–120 °C with counter-pressure so that cans do not deform. Steam and electric autoclaves with automatic mode control and cycle logging are suitable. Volume is matched to throughput: from 500 L for a workshop producing 1–2 tonnes per shift, to horizontal lines for 10+ tonnes.
What is the difference between a steam and electric autoclave, and which should I choose?
A steam autoclave is heated from the facility boiler: fast heat-up and low cycle cost, but requires a steam boiler at 0.4–0.8 MPa. An electric autoclave with heating elements is self-contained — ideal for workshops without a boiler room, but more expensive to run at large volumes. If steam is already available on site, go steam; for a new small facility, electric is often more practical.
What does a vacuum and counter-pressure autoclave offer?
Counter-pressure compensates for internal container pressure during heating and cooling — cans and retort pouches do not swell or deform. Vacuum modes allow delicate products to be sterilised at gentler temperatures, preserving texture and flavour. These are essential options for glass containers and retort packaging.
What are the lead times for an industrial autoclave?
Typical lead time is 45–90 days from contract signing: manufacture 20–35 days, customs and logistics 15–30 days, installation 3–7 days. Standard vertical models from stock can be delivered faster — please enquire when requesting a quote.
Is installation and operator training included in the price?
Installation and commissioning are included in the base supply package. Our team visits the site, connects the autoclave to steam, water and electricity, sets up sterilisation modes, runs a test cycle and trains operators. Operating manuals are provided in English.
Can an industrial autoclave be purchased on lease?
Yes, we work with leading leasing companies. Leasing is available for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. Initial payment from 10%, lease term up to 60 months. Submit a request — our manager will select terms and prepare a preliminary payment schedule.
